NSW police violently attacked huge numbers of protesters on Monday as tens of thousands turned out to demonstrate against the visit of the President of Israel, Isaac Herzog.
Under new draconian anti-protest laws introduced by the NSW Minns Labor government, police employed kettling, pepper spray and beatings to disperse protesters from Sydney Town Hall, forcing the crowds down George Street to Central Station.
Herzog, who was invited to ‘Australia’ by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, has been found to have incited genocide in Gaza by a UN Commission of Inquiry.
There have been calls for an independent investigation into the actions of police at Monday night’s rally, with Amnesty International calling the police violence “unnecessary and disproportionate”.
