Palestinian Pre-Election Debate Rally
Last night, around 150 demonstrators gathered outside the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s studios in Parramatta, Darug Land, for the televised pre-election debate between Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Opposition Leader, Peter Dutton. The protesters called for a halt to Australian arms sales to Israel, despite the Federal Government’s denial, and what they perceive as an anti-Palestinian bias of the ABC. Speakers condemned both major parties for their stance on the war on Gaza.
The rally was organised by Students for Palestine - UNSW and USYD.

La Dolce Vittorio Cabaret
Yesterday, friends, family and colleagues gathered at the East Sydney Community and Arts Centre in Darlinghurst yesterday to celebrate the life of Vittorio Bianchi, a significant cultural figure in Sydney and a worker and owner of the famous Piccolo Bar in Kings Cross since the 1960s. Vittorio passed away last month.
Performers at yesterday’s event included Vashti Hughes (MC), Charles Freyberg, Des the magician, Mia Mortal, Jeannie Lewis, Christine Hughes, Ms. Demeanour, Alison Marshall, Peter Urquhart, Ru Bella, Cindy Pastel and Paul Capsis.

Free Palestine Rally - Bankstown
Photographs of Sunday’s pro-Palestinian, anti-racism rally at Bankstown, Darug Land.
Protestors gathered at Paul Keating Park where speakers spoke out against systemic Islamophobia and racism, particularly within the political elite. Speakers urged voters to direct their ballots away from the Australian Labor Party (ALP) and the Liberal-National Coalition at the upcoming Federal election, to break the two-party stranglehold on power.
The rally then marched past Bankstown Central to the electoral office of the ALP’s sitting member for Blaxland, Jason Clare MP., before circling back to Paul Keating Park.
Sunday’s event was organised by Teachers and School Staff for Palestine - NSW.

Rally Against University Investment In The War on Gaza
Photographs of today’s rally at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), where students and academics spoke out against investment in Israel’s war on Gaza by the tertiary education sector in Australia.
Students then marched from UTS to the University of Sydney where they joined a similar rally being held there. Speakers challenged the new definition of anti-Semitism imposed by universities, which they say is pro-Israel and censors staff and students from expressing support for Palestine.
